Fishing Guide 1-350

Free Profession Guides

Fishing is one of the easiest to figure out of the professions, but can also take a decently long time to get to level 450 with. It’s just a long grind in general for anyone that is interested in getting their skill up quickly, so you’d better be patient. I recommend you train Cooking at the same time though to save yourself a good deal of energy while raising your skill.

1-300

To get started, train with any fishing trainer in Old Azeorth. You’ll be an apprentice when you get started. Now, buy a fishing pole and a fishing bauble to get started and start farming away. The old quest objectives for this profession have been removed, as have level requirements since most players level fishing at 80 now. So, you can stay in the same general areas most of the time. Just remember to retrain yourself at level 75, 150, and 225. Also, make sure to go out and get new fishing poles and baubles when they are available. You can start with any water near your trainer to reach Level 75, then go to the Barrens and catch Deviate Fish until you reach Level 300. Yup, you can fish on these things the whole time. If you can get into the Wailing Caverns, go there so you don’t have to move around at all while fishing.

300 – 450

You’ll need to boost your fishing skill before doing any more now as well. To do this, you need to get a +5 Strong Fishing Pole and a stack of +75 Bright Baubles. There are plenty of other fishing pole options as well that give boosts up to +40, but a good +5 should be good for you to level with.

Start out by going to Borean Tundra and becoming a Master Fisher from your trainers (Fishy Ser’ji for Horde and Old Man Robert for Alliance). Then start fishing in Borean Tundra. You’ll pull up a lot of junk to get started, so just bear with it for a while. If you are already Level 80, I recommend you go to Wintergrasp to start as you will actually make some gold here and get less junk. In general though, just pull up anything you find in this continent and you’ll reach Level 450 in no time. Once you hit Level 375, train as  Grand Master and hit a good pool or even the open water to fish for Glacial Salmon (they are great for leveling with).
