I’ve been a Disc Priest healer for PvE and raiding for so long that I literately forgot how to use the keys for everything. I had become a “clicker”. A clicker is someone who clicks on the spells and abilities with the mouse rather than using a key or keybind. What is wrong with that? Well, that is what I asked myself for the longest time…. Why can’t I click my heals, I mean, it has been working for PvE for so long it can’t be bad right? Wrong. As of right now I am just beginning to see the errors in being a “clicker” for PvP for one primary reason. By clicking on the Healbot or castbar instead of hitting a key you actually have to look and control your mouse over to that area of the screen and click it. When you do this it distracts you from the battle and you lose situational awareness. Things happen so fast in PvP that you really have to pay attention to the fight. So, I am in the process right now of re-training myself on how to use keybindings for PvP. I will be editing this post throughout the week as I learn.
I am currently testing new macros, key bindings, and add-ons to increase my situational awareness. It felt amazing to cast Shadow Word: Death withing the last 1/2 second on a mage casting a polymorph and having the reflective damage from my spell pop me out of the sheep. All the great PvP experts pay attention to what enemies are casting. I will be adding little things that I learn to this blog.
I am a pretty stubborn guy and when I see the need to change to improve other “clickers” should at least give it a good college try. I bet it will improve your PvP game.
